After Fnac Darty and Cdiscount, SFR’s turn to be sanctioned for payment delays

The telecommunications operator has a fine of 860,000 euros for delays in the payment of its suppliers.

The SFR telecommunications operator was sanctioned by a fine of 860,000 euros for delays in the payment of its suppliers, the DGCCRF said on Monday.

“The observation of these delays was carried out (…) within the framework of a survey launched by the DGCCRF on compliance with the commercial code rules in terms of payment terms,” said the DGCCRF (General Directorate of Competition, Consumption and repression of fraud).

According to the company, this sanction results from a “very limited number of invoices” that evoke 175 payments interested in 2022, “to compare with the hundreds of thousands of invoices honored by SFR each year.”

In early August, several fines against French companies based on the same reasons have already been made public for the repression of fraud.

The Merchant Cdiscount online was sanctioned by a fine of 2.1 million euros, and the Darty Fnac group was inflicted from 3.9 million euros for payments.

“Only 50% of large companies pay today without delay”

Recurrent problem: delays in payment between companies increased even more in 2024 and deteriorated “significantly in France”, which returned “above the European average,” said the banquera of France in early July, with an average delay of 13.6 days last year.

Faced with what sometimes constitutes substantial holes in the treasure of certain SMEs, the Executive insufficiently dissuasive.

In mid -July, Prime Minister François Bayrou has announced that he wanted to adjust the sanctions imposing on the companies that take time to resolve their commercial partners a financial punishment that can be “up to 1% of the billing”, to “end the practices that weaken our economic fabric.”
