Checks “In a few seconds”: some foreign visitors will be able to save time for the security controls of US airports

Clear+ biometric porticos present at 59 US airports are now open to travelers from several Anglo -Saxon countries such as the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia and New Zealand.

Who went to the United States is experiencing the border control test. Endless queues, suspicious customs agents …, foreign visitors can spend several hours there before they can leave the airport. Obviously, US nationals can save time using, for example, dedicated feet services, such as the Clear+ program that gives access to biometric identity verification doors.

This program initially reserved for Americans is now open to travelers in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand announced the company Clara a few days ago. Other countries will probably be announced at the end of this year, he said.

With more than $ 200 per year

These porches associated with separate tails are present at 59 airports in the United States. “In a few seconds” verifications are performed by ocular, digital or facial biometry. If this service, which brings together 7.6 million users (according to its owner) saves a precious time, you are paying: $ 209 per year (online record or in partner airports). Therefore, it is aimed at visitors who often go to the United States, such as businessmen.

Remember that foreign travelers who go to the United States without the need for visa must have this (electronic travel authorization). This electronic document is also paid and its price will go from $ 21 to $ 40 next year.

In May 2024, British airports had been affected by a failure of their porch that automatically controlled passports at airports, an incident that had generated long delay for passengers. The porches, which scan biometric passports and use facial recognition, had been out of service for four hours in the middle of the night. The porch failure had significantly affected London-Heathrow OA the London-Luton, Edinburgh or Manchester airports, where the border police had to manually verify passports.
