Russian oil deliveries to Hungary and Slovakia could be suspended for at least five days after a Ukrainian strike damaged an oil installation in Russia, warned that Hungarian and Slovak governments warned on Friday, August 22.
The Ukrainian army announced Thursday night that he had hit an oil pumping station of the Drug Pipeline located in the city of Ousetca, in the British Oblast in Russia. This pipeline, which crosses Belarus and Ukraine, sees Kazakh’s oil to Germany, as well as from Russia to Hungary and Slovakia.
Hungary and Slovakia wrote to the European Commission on Friday to take into account that the last Ukrainian attack could deprive them of Russian oil imports for at least five days.
Opposite to the sanctions against Russia
The two countries, members of the European Union (EU), opposed the sanctions against Russia after their invasion of Ukraine and the progressive elimination of Russian energy supplies.
This is the second time this week when Russian oil deliveries to Hungary and Slovakia have been cut, after a first interruption on Mondays and Tuesdays. A Russian industrial source also indicated that deliveries can be interrupted for several days.
The Russian Ministry of Energy has not responded to a request for a comment. On the other hand, Germany said that their Kazakhstan oil supplies had not been affected by the last Ukrainian strike.
