(…) Our country is in danger because we face the risk of exaggerating,” François Bayroun warned during a press conference on Monday.
According to the Prime Minister, “the debt burden will become this year in the most important budget in the nation.” “And it will grow every year,” he warns. François Bayrou is 60 billion for debt load by 2024, 66 billion for this year and 75 billion “in the best case” by 2026, or even 107 billion in 2029 “if we do not correct.” He regrets that of the 50 billion euros in the new wealth produced by France, 10 billion “are captured by the load of the debt.”
“There could have been a useful debt”
The prime minister also wanted to put all the French before their responsibilities: “This colossal debt was year after year consumed in current expenses and the protection of our fellow citizens. I am thinking of Covid, retired for about 600 billion, consumers on reduced VAT, salary officials, mass secured persons, companies in charge of the positions.”
François Bayrou also regrets that the French debt has not been staggered in recent decades: “There could have been a useful debt […] We do not choose the investment, but for the most part for decades current expenses. “Especially because the indebtedness conditions were more advantageous a few years ago, before the explosion of interest rates:” This means that it becomes too expensive to build, buy an apartment, which is impossible to acquire a car or equip the house. This is the consequence of the direct family. Explosion is the general suffocation of the economy. “
Massive savings
François Bayrou had already warned in early August in his first explanatory video on YouTube that exaggeration was the main danger that threatened France, to justify his plan for savings and budgetary restrictions.
He had presented a plan in mid -July to save 44 billion euros, with respect to health and local authorities and the freezing of social benefits, as well as the project to suppress up to two vacations, while maintaining the increase in the defense budget of 3.5 billion euros.
