To take the train in Bordeaux this weekend, it had to be patient. This Sunday, September 14, TGV 8504, from Toulouse and through Gironde’s prefecture, arrived 8 hours late when he arrived in Paris.
“It is long, it is safe. It is not very nice to realize at 10 in the morning, that we are not going to arrive and that there are compromised discrepancies (…) that we have to face with philosophy, there is nothing serious, we have good health,” he puts a traveler upon arrival at the Paris-Montparnosse station.
The cause of this delay: four successive fires begins, located 15 kilometers from burgundy and reported in the space of one hour this Sunday morning. If all were turned off at the end of the morning by firefighters, these fires calcined essential electrical cables for trains circulation and travelers’ safety.
Consequence: Very strong disturbances in the rail network between Bordeaux and Toulouse all day and at the end of the night. Several TGVs have been canceled and others were diverted by South Way through Dax and Tarbes, with a strong expected delay. Substitution coaches have also been created.
The privileged sabotage track
In Bordeaux, this Sunday, passengers had to be patients. “We change an hour and another hour, then another hour. So have been around 2:30 that we are waiting for,” said an exasperated user.
“Regarding the concomitance of these four fires, the voluntary nature of the latter is largely privileged,” said Bordeaux Prosecutor, Renaud Gaudel. An investigation into “Fire degradation in an organized gang” was opened.
For its part, the SNCF said “suspects an act of malice” that “judicial investigation must confirm.” “The police must be able to identify, recover and take these criminals before justice, but the motivations of these people are not always known,” said Arnaud Aymé, a transport specialist to the SIA Cabinet, in BFMTV.
After the repairs were carried out until late at night, traffic normally resumed this Monday morning. At the SNCF Burgundy Station site, no delay would be reported.
