Consumer prices in France rose 1% year-on-year in October, a slowdown after a 1.2% rebound in September, thanks to a drop in energy prices and a slowdown in food prices.
According to the INSEE provisional estimate published on Friday, October 31, prices rose again in one month, up to +0.1%, after a fall of 0.1% in September: “this slight increase in prices could be explained by the increase in the prices of services, particularly those of transport services, and to a lesser extent the prices of manufactured products,” it states in a statement.
While inflation is close to its 2% target in the euro area, the European Central Bank decided not to change its key rates on Thursday, October 30.
