Energy: for Anne Lauvergeon, the French live with “anxiety due to price increases and shortages”

On BFMTV, the former chairman of Areva’s board of directors criticizes the energy policy put in place by the government and calls for the establishment of a “real energy policy” without “demagogy”.

According to RTE, the French saved 7% of electricity last week, specifying that this step is far from being enough to avoid drastic measures when the cold will be more violent. For Anne Lauvergeon, we are far from reality.

“Hole in the Racket”

Anne Lauvergeon launches a charge on the energy shield put in place last year by Jean Castex, then prime minister and recently become president of the RATP.

Now, the situation has worsened with the war in Ukraine that has destabilized Europe. In France, energy prices are rising and rotating load disconnection is anticipated if temperatures require it. The government has launched a crisis plan to alert the population.

If the risk of a “blackout” that will plunge France into darkness is ruled out, it may be necessary to wait until early 2023 for specific cuts at certain times and in certain regions. According to RTE, they should take place at peak times, in the morning between 8 am and 1 pm and in the afternoon between 6 pm and 8 pm. For Anne Lauvergeon, this situation is alarming.

“Stop Telling Stories”

Ask the government to implement a “real energy policy” and recall that in 2018, Emmanuel Macron planned the closure of 16 nuclear reactors. “We have to end the demagogy. EDF has to make its nuclear fleet work and stop telling stories,” continues Anne Lauvergeon.

The youngest may not remember who Anne Lauvergeon is. She was one of President Mitterrand’s closest advisers in the 1990s. In 1995, the magazine Times ranked her among the hundred most influential people on the planet. Subsequently, she was managing partner of Banque Lazard, member of the Board of Directors of Péchiney, then President and CEO of the Cogema group in 1999.

In July 2001, he created Areva managing the purchase of the Framatome shares held by Alcatel. At that time, the Americans gave her the nickname “Atomic Anne”. This history graduate is now Chairman of the Board of Sigfox and Chairman of the Board of ALP, a consulting and investment company.
