The era of sixth-generation fighter jets will begin on December 2. Aircraft manufacturer Northrop Grumman and the US Air Force will finally unveil the B-21 Raider, a futuristic stealth bomber. It will be the first aircraft in a series of six currently in the assembly phase.
The event will take place at the Northrop Grumman factory track in Palmdale, California. To attend this ceremony, you will need to show your credentials. Access to the site is under high protection and the aircraft will be presented from only one angle so as not to show too much in the images to be taken.
On its website, the manufacturer displays a suspenseful countdown with a message directed at Americans and enemies of America. The Pentagon has already ordered a hundred with first deliveries in 2030. A demonstrator should take off in 2023. The B-21 will replace the Boeing B-52 Stratofortress bombers and the Rockwell B-1 Lancer.
200 billion dollars
This program cost would be more than $200 billion, but the Pentagon has never given a figure. The project was launched in 2015 with a tender that pitted Northrop Grumman against an alliance between Boeing and Lockheed Martin.
To date, Northrop Grumman had only revealed drawings of the device that showed a device with a stingray body and a hawk head to embody both stealth and punching power.
In addition, its name, Raider, is a tribute to the Doolittle raid, which was the first bombing raid by a B-25 in 1942 on Japan after the attack on Pearl Arbor. A whole symbol.
american sovereignty
Apart from a few points such as stealth, connection to a combat cloud, speed and ultra-sophisticated weaponry, mystery hangs over this device that is destined to become “the backbone of American air power”.
In addition to weaponry including nuclear and hypersonic bombs, the bomber will have unprecedented precision in these strikes thanks to software powered by data from across the US military.
To ensure its production without being penalized by a foreign state, particularly for electronic components, Northrop Grumman says it has developed “advanced manufacturing techniques and digital engineering tools.”
