As the wave of discontent among travelers due to train cancellations grows, the SNCF has just presented its exceptional refund scheme. A guest on France info’s morning show this morning, the executive director of SNCF Voyageurs, Christophe Fanichet, indicated that this refund would reach 200% of the ticket price: “I have decided to take exceptional refund measures. We will refund 200%. It’s Christmas, This strike is unacceptable.”
Planned for the period from December 23 to 26, the refund will be made as follows: passengers who request it will recover the full price of the canceled ticket in their bank account as well as a digital voucher for the same amount valid for a period of one year, which must be requested through a specific platform. The SNCF will contact interested travelers on this issue in the coming days.
Wait for the return to go through as part of an impacted round trip
Informed by email or SMS of trip cancellations, customers can change their ticket for free on all trains where there are seats. As for the refund request, it must be initiated before the departure time indicated on your ticket to be taken into account. The refund can then be made through various channels such as the SNCF website, at the station or in the store using the file number and finally by phone at 3635. The special case of Ouigo travel
Travelers on the Ouigo network can choose between two solutions. The fastest is the free change within the seven days following the date of the initial trip and obviously within the limit of available seats. If you want to opt for this alternative, the client must register before 11:30 p.m. the day before the trip in question, otherwise, it will be automatically cancelled.
Canceling their train also entitles them to a refund in the form of a voucher emailed to them within three days. To benefit from a transfer of the amount to your bank account, the initial purchase of the ticket must have been made with a bank card at least partially and not totally as a voucher.
