The unemployment rate in the euro zone remained stable in November at 6.5% of the active population, its lowest historical level reached in October, according to Eurostat data published on Monday.
The indicator is at its lowest point since the European Statistics Office began compiling this series in April 1998. In one year, it fell 0.6 points thanks to the post-Covid economic recovery.
Despite a rebound in November (+0.5 points), it is in the Czech Republic where the unemployment rate is the lowest in Europe with 2.7% of the active population. They are followed by Germany (3%), Poland (3%), Norway (3.1%) and the Netherlands (3.6%).
With a rate of 7% in November according to Eurostat, France saw its unemployment drop in November (-0.1 point) but the rate in France remains slightly above the European average.
It should be noted that two countries have maintained a rate above 10% despite a decline in recent months: Greece at 11.4% (-0.1 points in November) and Spain at 12.4% (- 0.1 points). Two countries that were respectively at 13.1% and 13.4% a year earlier.
