In ten days, Windows 10 will no longer be compatible with Microsoft. After almost 10 years of service, it will reach the end of the support on October 14. A stop that is problematic for many users, whose computers can become vulnerable and, therefore, obsolete because they will no longer benefit from free security updates.
Before their anger and that of the associations that launched a petition, Microsoft, however, decided to make a small gesture offering them a year of stay. In the next few days, users related to the European Economic Area (EEE) will receive notifications on your computer to register for the “Extended Security Updates” (ESU) program to continue benefiting from it.
Permanent connection
Once you will see the notification, a user will have two options to activate the program. The first requires that you are permanently connected to your Microsoft (MSA) account to receive free security updates.
Users who do not want to remain connected can resort to the second option, which will not be free. In fact, they will have to make a single purchase, of 30 USD (or the local equivalent) to register in the program. Buy for which it will be necessary to connect for the first time with your MSA.
In both cases, users will be able to update their computer until October 13, 2026. Companies, schools and NGOs will have to buy the ESU program for a period of up to three years.
