According to the latest survey “L’Opinion en direct” by the Elabe Institute for BFMTV, 20% of respondents claim to be very familiar with the pension reform and its terms. 68% think they know it roughly. Only 11% say they are unaware of the terms of the reform.
As for the main measures introduced by the pension reform, the survey finds that the French have a fairly good understanding of the terms and consequences for current and future retirees. An emblematic measure, the increase to 64 years of the legal exit age is known by 79% of those surveyed. On the contrary, only 8% think that the age is maintained at 62, 8% believe that it is increased to 65 and 5% do not know.

In addition, 55% of those surveyed know that the reform plans to end the special regimes (18% are wrong when they affirm the opposite and 27% affirm that they do not know). 45% also know that the increase in the full-career pension to 85% of the Smic affects both current retirees and new retirees (30% believe that this only affects future retirees, 4% only current retirees and 21% not). know).
If we ask at what age a person who started working at 20 can leave, 43% are correct in answering that they can leave at 62 with the reform (15% answer 60 and 26% answer 63, while the 16% do not know) . The least known measure of the French is the extension of the contribution period from 42 to 43 years: only 35% answered correctly. They are 34% responding 44 years old, 11% responding 42 years old and 20% say they do not know.
