Pensions: refinery employees strongly mobilized this Thursday against the reform

The CGT reported this Thursday morning that 100% of the strikers were at the Flanders deposit, 80% at the Normandy refinery, 60% at the La Mède biorefinery, or even 50% at the Donges refinery.

Dockers, refineries and electricians are on strike against the government’s pension reform bill this Thursday and Friday. In the refineries, it is not on the agenda to stop facilities, but fuel shipments to the deposits will be blocked, with the usual slogan: “nothing goes in, nothing comes out.”

In TotalEnergies, the CGT reported Thursday morning that 100% of the strikers at the Flanders (North) deposit, mobilized since Wednesday night, 80% at the Normandy refinery, 60% at the biorefinery La Mède (Bouches-du-Rhône), 50% at the Donges refinery (Loire-Atlantique) and 30% at the Grandpuits site (Seine-et-Marne).

“We confirm that there is no shortage of fuel at our stations,” TotalEnergies intends to reassure, indicating that “stocks in warehouses and service stations are at a satisfactory level.” “Our teams are mobilized to meet a demand that could be more sustained than usual and have additional logistical means if necessary,” adds the French company.

The CGT wants to harden the movement

“We do not want (any) blockade that would be a punishment for all French people and we do not accept any threat,” Labor Minister Olivier Dussopt told the Senate on Wednesday, speaking of an “offense” rather than a “political or militant crime.” action”.

The oil company CGT wants, however, “a slightly tougher movement,” said Thierry Defresne, CGT secretary of the TotalEnergies Europe committee.

“I don’t like the term blockade, but we believe that the generalization of the strike is necessary to affect the economy,” added Thierry Defresne, who sees in this the only way to “push the government back”, unlike the 24-movement of hours spaced in time.

The oil tankers plan local actions with the employees of the port infrastructures, with which joint demonstrations could be organized. Indeed, the Federation of Ports and Docks of the CGT has called this Thursday the stevedores and port workers to a 24-hour strike.
