Norske tog in Norway relies on Alstom again. Following a mega-contract of 1.8 billion euros signed at the end of 2021 for the supply of 200 regional trains, the public rail operator orders 25 additional trains from the French industrialist. Amount of the operation: 230 million euros.
These new “Class 77” regional trains will provide fast rail and shuttle service between Ski and Stabekk in the greater Oslo region. “The expanded train fleet will improve transportation services in this busy region,” the statement read.
Alstom will assemble the trains at its site in Salzgitter, Germany. Several French Alstom plants are also participating in the project, notably Tarbes for the traction systems, Ornans for the motors, Villeurbanne for the signaling systems and Petit-Quevilly for the transformers.
