Opponents of the pension reform are expecting a “very popular, very familiar” fourth day of mobilization with the presence of “people from all walks of life” in the processions. More than 200 demonstrations against Elisabeth Borne’s government project are organized this Saturday, February 11 at the call of the inter-union (CFDT, CGT, FO, CFE-CGC, CFTC, Unsa, Solidaires, FSU).
The following map gathers all the encounters identified by the CGT.
This is the first time, since the beginning of the movement against the postponement of the legal starting age to 64, that unions have organized a demonstration at the weekend, eager to allow everyone to demonstrate. Including people who cannot afford to go on strike during the week or professions subject to requisitions such as health personnel.
New shutdowns already scheduled
Demonstrations are scheduled in major cities, such as Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux, Nantes… But also in medium-sized cities such as Limoges, Verdun, Saint-Omer.
An intelligence note forecasts between 600,000 and 800,000 protesters across France, including between 90,000 and 120,000 people in Paris. In the capital, the opponents are called to meet at 1:00 p.m. on the Place de la République, before marching on the Place de la Nation.
The mobilization must continue with a new day of strikes and demonstrations on February 16, on the eve of the end of the review of the pension reform in the National Assembly. Then on March 7, on the occasion of the arrival of the text in the Senate. Some unions advocate renewable strikes from this date.
