The majority of the French support the unions that want to paralyze “France” to protest against the pension reform, according to the latest poll by Elabe for BFMTV published on Monday. According to this survey, 56% of the French “support the establishment of a renewable strike from March 7 and in the following days” and 59% “support the action of the unions to ‘stop France'” this Tuesday.
The rate of support for a renewable strike starting this Tuesday is particularly high among workers (70%), employees (74%) and among voters for Jean-Luc Mélenchon in the first round of the 2022 presidential elections ( 79%).
64% of the French support the mobilization
In almost all socio-professional categories, the majority of respondents support the renewables strike, even among CSP+ (64% among executives and higher intellectual professions).
By contrast, only 25% of Emmanuel Macron’s voters in the first round support the establishment of a renewable strike starting Tuesday, March 7. The same as retirees (37% support the renewable strike). Of the general population, 42% of those surveyed do not support renewable unemployment.
Although it drops slightly by three points compared to February 15, support and sympathy for the mobilization against the pension reform continues to be the majority in the country, with 64%.
A project still considered “unfair” and “inefficient”
The government plan is still considered unfair (69%, -3%), ineffective in ensuring the sustainability of the pension system (57%, -6%) and unnecessary (51%, -4%). 49% of the French consider, therefore, that the executive must “modify in depth” its reform and 33% “withdraw it”.
However, despite this strong opposition, 64% (-11% compared to January 10) of those surveyed believe that the pension reform “will pass” and will be applied in the coming months. A third (35%) believe, on the contrary, that the reform will be “withdrawn in the face of disputes.”
Challenges that will be numerous throughout the week. the social movement pass “higher gear”, as the CGT leader Philippe Martínez called in the Sunday Newspaper (JDD).
Beyond the great riots for this Tuesday, the inter-union intends to resume the strike in many sectors, unprecedented since the beginning of these actions, to break the government.
