More expensive natural gas on the regulated market as of October

The price of natural gas on the regulated market will increase by 3.2% in October compared to October 2022, but in practice the increase will average 2.4% due to the quarterly update that took place in January.

This means that, explains the Entidades Reguladora dos Serviços Energéticos (ERSE) in a statement, that the average monthly bill of a couple without children – that is, those in the 1st tier and with a consumption of 1610 kWh per year – will be 13 are. .92 euros from October, 38 cents more than you pay now. For a couple with two children, which is therefore in the 2nd row, with a consumption of 3407 kWh per year, the increase will be an average of 57 cents per month, for a total of 26.25 euros.

This increase, says ERSE, “is essentially justified by the increase in tariffs for access to the networks in the gas year 2023-2024, due to a fall in demand resulting in an increase in infrastructure costs”.

This is ERSE’s tariff increase proposal, but it will still have to be the subject of an advice from the Tariff Council. The approval and publication of the final rates will be known on June 1 and will take effect on October 1. The approximately 408 thousand natural gas consumers who remain on the regulated market will be affected by this increase.
