The DGA orders the 180 Fardier, the all-terrain parachute of the special forces

The Army has signed a contract of 44 million euros for 300 copies that this year will equip the commandos in foreign operations. The first 180 have been ordered.

The Fardiers arrive. The General Directorate of Armaments (DGA) has commissioned Unac, an SME based in Vergèze in the Gard, to produce 180 trailers out of the 300 provided for by the 2019-2025 military programming law with 100 trailers out of the 172 planned. All eight will be delivered this year. Deliveries will continue until 2027.

Designed for Army airborne troops as well as special forces, this small all-terrain vehicle is air-transportable, air-droppable, and helicopter-portable. This 4×4 is small, almost light (2 tons) and strong. It was designed to be transported on an A400M, parachuted from jumbo jets (C130 Hercules or A400M Atlas), or transported by helicopter (Caracal and NH90).

Once on the ground, it allows commandos to no longer have to carry heavy loads and therefore be more mobile. The float can transport up to 400 kg of material. It can even be armed with two 7.76mm machine guns.

The first 2 Floats of the series were delivered to the armies on April 19, 2022.

This contract contract of 44 million euros represents 250 jobs, direct and indirect, in UNAC and its subcontractors.
