The Council of Ministers will meet this Monday to review the list of support measures for families following the improvement in indicators of the Portuguese economy in 2023, the finance minister said today.
“This review of economic growth forecasts will allow us to revise our already solid list of measures,” Finance Minister Fernando Medina said in Lisbon, indicating that the Council of Ministers will carry out this review “even today” , adding that the contents of this government meeting will be presented to the country by Prime Minister António Costa.
Fernando Medina today presents the Stability Program (SP) 2023-2027, a document in which the government revises the growth forecast of the Portuguese economy for 2023 upwards, compared to the projection presented in the State Budget for 2023 (OE2023), anticipating another decline of inflation and forecasting a deficit of 0.4% – in line with the figure for 2022.
When asked if he has scope to further reduce the deficit in 2023, the finance minister replied yes, that “there is [mais margem]adding that the government’s option was to give more support to families rather than further reduce the deficit.
