The first support of 90 euros will reach 1 million families this Thursday

About one million families will receive the first extraordinary quarterly support for vulnerable families this Thursday, worth €90 (€30 per month), the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security announced today.

The payment will be made by bank transfer “to all households benefiting from the social tariff for electricity and social minimum benefits, for a total amount of 90 million euros,” explains the ministry headed by Ana Mendes Godinho.

It is one of the exceptional measures to support family income and consists of the grant of 30 euros per month, paid quarterly, with the 90 euros paid next Thursday corresponding to the first quarter of this year.

In a statement, the Ministry of Labor said that the next payments, “also in the amount of 90 euros, will be made in the months of June, August and November”, indicating that in total for the year the households covered by the measure will receive a global amount from 360 euros.

Ana Mendes Godinho, quoted in the statement, refers that this is “another extraordinary measure to support the most vulnerable families in the face of higher costs due to inflation”.

In order for the amount to reach families with an eligible profile, it is necessary to register or update the IBAN with Social Security Direct. Those who haven’t already done so can still do so, with “retroactive payment of support after the update in question guaranteed”.

This support is intended for families living in Portugal who are beneficiaries of the Social Electricity Tariff (TSEE), with reference to the month of March 2023, according to the information available on the Social Security website.

“Families that are not beneficiaries of the TSEE are also entitled to this support, but in which at least one of the elements of the household receives one of the minimum social benefits provided or in which one of the children is the holder of 1st or 2nd scale family allowances “is called.

It should be recalled that minimum social benefits are considered to be the social integration income, the solidarity supplement for the elderly, the social invalidity pension under the special scheme of invalidity protection, the supplementary social benefit for integration, the social old-age pension and the social unemployment benefit.
