Dozens of people flee from a man who walks calmly and armed with a knife. Scary images spread by the British press the day after the attack on a train in the United Kingdom. At least ten people were stabbed on a train going from Doncaster to King’s Cross in London.
Anthony Williams is suspected of attacking several people with a knife, before the train stopped at Huntingdon station, near Cambridge, to allow police to intervene. Thereafter, the passengers quickly got off the train and fled.
An aggressor reassures fleeing passengers
In a video from a surveillance camera, consulted and distributed by the Daily Mail, we see dozens of people running on the platform at exactly 7:41 p.m., without luggage. Behind them, calmly, walks one last man. This is the attacker.
A video also shows a railway worker walking alone towards the attacker and telling passengers to continue fleeing. Then he too turned.
Moments later, through another security camera, the suspect is seen climbing a wooden fence, between the platforms and a parking lot. His knife is clearly seen in the video. In the parking lot, the man continues on his way, still walking leisurely.
Another video, still broadcast by the Daily Mail but also by Sky News, shows the arrest of Anthony Williams, not far away. Surrounded by several law enforcement officers, accompanied by a police dog, the man was on the ground when he was shot with a Taser. The video shows how the police neutralized the suspect on the ground.
A final video was released by Daily Mail. It shows another man arrested and Tasered by police at Huntingdon Docks at 7.49pm. As police ordered him to get down, the man in question curled up on the ground and shouted several times “it’s not me!” According to the Daily Mail, the person was released without charge and was an “innocent man.”
Alleged attacker charged with “attempted murder”
The alleged attacker has been charged with attempted murder against ten people, British Transport Police said in a press release on Monday, November 3. At 32 years old, he was due to appear this morning before the court in Peterborough, in the east of England. The police quickly ruled out the terrorist trail.
Anthony Williams was also charged with another attempted murder that took place the same day in London, where he was in possession of a knife, according to police.
Two people were still between life and death this Sunday afternoon.
