Environmental defenders are at risk of being strangled. The airline Vueling will launch a link between Toulouse and Barcelona as of July 1, the Barcelona-El Prat airport announced on Twitter.
The low-cost company, a subsidiary of the giant IAG, plans to operate 3 flights per week with Airbus A319 and A320 that can carry from 144 to 180 passengers. Vueling will be the only company to offer a direct flight from Toulouse.
There is no direct train connection between the two cities.
But this new line raises questions because the two cities are only 340 kilometers apart. On Twitter, one user expressed skepticism of him: “Was this short flight necessary?” To which the Barcelona airport responds that it will be the only direct connection besides the car and the bus.
In fact, there is no longer a direct train connection between the two cities. The fastest journey takes between 3.5 and 4 hours, with a connection in Narbonne. And this despite the use of two successive TGVs (Renfe or SNCF).
Remember that last March, Toulouse and Barcelona renewed and expanded their collaboration agreement, especially on mobility issues.
