US debt: Biden considers Republican proposals “unacceptable” and considers resorting to the Constitution

“It is time for the other side to drop their extreme positions because much of what they have already offered is simply, frankly, unacceptable,” Biden said on the sidelines of the G7 summit. He added that he is considering using the weapon of the Constitution to avoid default.

US President Joe Biden on Sunday called the Republican proposals “unacceptable” against the backdrop of tense negotiations over the US debt ceiling as time is running out to avoid a default by part of the United States. He also said that he was thinking of using the weapon of the Constitution so that this scenario does not occur.

“Just unacceptable”

Joe Biden, who is in Japan for the G7 summit, spoke with Republican leader Kevin McCarthy about the US debt ceiling, whose negotiations have taken “a step back” according to the White House, accusing each side of blocking the discussions.
