The luxury group Chanel announced this Thursday that it had reached a sales record in 2022, having also increased its net profit by 14.2% to reach 4.6 billion dollars (4.3 billion euros), according to a press release.
“Chanel once again achieved a solid financial performance in 2022, with double-digit growth in all categories,” said Philippe Blondiaux, the house’s financial director, who is satisfied with “these results obtained despite numerous macroeconomic challenges” .
He said that last year the group had increased its workforce by 12%, “to more than 32,000 people worldwide.”
“This is due in particular to the growth registered in knowledge such as those related to digital, information technology and sustainable development,” details the group’s press release.
Europe drives sales
By 2023, “despite market uncertainties, we remain confident in our ability to ensure sustainable and healthy growth, while remaining committed to our employees, our customers and our brand,” says Philippe Blondiaux, without giving quantified details. .
In 2022, Chanel’s operating profit was $5.7 billion, up 5.8% from the previous year. By region, sales increased 16.8% in Europe, 7.2% in Asia Pacific and 9.4% in the Americas.
Chanel does not reveal the financial performance of each of its categories, but indicates that its Fashion collections “continue to be well received, with exceptional growth in all categories, particularly for leather goods and footwear.”
The Perfume & Beauty division “benefited from the recovery” in travel, as well as sustained demand from local customers,” while Watch & Jewelry “continued to show solid momentum.”
