Strike on Thursday 29: what interruptions to expect?

A day of mobilization against the pension reform and for the revaluation of wages is scheduled for Thursday. Transport, schools and other public services… Summary of the sectors affected by the strike.

On Thursday, September 29, a call to demonstrate throughout France is launched at the initiative of three unions: the CGT, FSU and Solidaires. Not everyone will be part of it. The CFDT and the FO will not join the ranks of the events organized in Paris, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Caen or even Marseille.

• Interruptions on trains

While the processions march, services will be interrupted, starting with public transport. If the RATP foresees normal traffic on the metro side, it will be necessary to have 3 of 4 trains for RER B and 2 of 3 buses in the capital. There are no changes, however, for the RER A. The tramway will suffer 1 train out of 10 less this Thursday, as well as a shorter route for the T3a line. Only one in two trams will run between Pont du Garigliano and Porte d’Ivry. This transport plan comes into force this Wednesday from 10:00 p.m. The notice of strike extends until Friday, September 30 in the morning.

The daily train lines of the SNCF network are not far behind: RER C and D will be interrupted, without further details on the scope of the changes to come.

As for the high-speed lines, the transport plan for this Thursday has been adapted. In case of cancellation of the train, users have already received a message to notify them.

However, there was no mobilization of air traffic controllers. The national union of air traffic controllers has announced that it will end its strike initially scheduled for this weekend. An agreement has been reached with the Ministry of Transport to increase wages.

• School disruptions

Teachers are also called to strike on Thursday. School teachers must indicate their intention to follow the movement of September 29 in advance, to warn parents. The rule is valid for infant and primary schools.

On the other hand, nothing compels high school teachers to go on strike before taking office on Thursday morning. Therefore, it is difficult to anticipate the scope of the mobilization in National Education.

The Atsem (territorial agents present in nursery school classes) are also called to join the ranks of the marches organized throughout France.

All school services may be affected, from catering to extracurricular activities.

• Interruptions in public services

Town halls, tax centers and post offices are affected by this social movement. In fact, public officials are called to participate in the strike. 3 unions are also calling the health sector to mobilize.

Some hospitals are affected. The agents denounce the suppression of beds and “degraded working conditions.” The disability, child protection and old age sectors are also involved.
