Most French people are overwhelmed with paperwork and administrative procedures. In any case, this is what emerges from the latest Odoxa* barometer from BFM Business, challenges and AGIPI. For 90% of the French, administrative “simplification” should be a government priority.
In fact, 9 out of 10 French people believe that there are too many administrative procedures. And it doesn’t get better, with +8 points of exasperated people in the space of 2 years. French who also consider the procedures too complex and too long.
New technologies at the service of the French
While 2 out of 3 French people acknowledge “that the Internet and new technologies have made administrative procedures easier than before”, 84% think “that there are more and more new regulations that mean more paperwork and administrative procedures”.
Public services are the first targets: the city council (especially for identity document procedures), tax centers and social security centers are the three most criticized organizations. They are followed by insurance companies, banks and mutuals.
But, although the French reject paperwork as a whole, they are on the contrary a majority (60%) who accept administrative procedures as long as they aim to preserve the environment, health or even CSR.
*Survey carried out on a sample of French people interviewed via the Internet from May 31 to June 1, 2023. Sample of 998 French people, representative of the French population aged 18 and over. The representativeness of the sample is ensured by the quota method applied to the following variables: sex, age, degree level and profession of the interviewee, prior stratification by region and agglomeration category.
