Denis Kessler, Chairman of Scor, dies at 71

Denis Kessler, current president of Scor and former vice president of Medef, died on Friday at the age of 71.

Denis Kessler, the chairman of Scor and former vice-chairman of Medef, died on Friday at the age of 71, the reinsurance group announced in a press release.

“Through his forward-thinking vision, exceptional commitment, and leadership, Denis Kessler led a spectacular turnaround for the Group for more than two decades, positioning him at the forefront of reinsurers globally. He became non-executive chairman of SCOR on June 30, 2021, ”recalls the company.

Born in Mulhouse in 1952, Denis Kessler went to HEC Paris, graduating in 1976, before joining the CNRS. An economist, he was a member of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council from 1993 to 2010 and deputy vice president of Medef from 1999 to 2022. He has also been a director of several companies, including Dexia, Bolloré, BNP Paribas, Invesco and Dassault Aviation.

“For the past two decades, Denis Kessler has been responsible for Scor’s success and reputation around the world. His passion for reinsurance was unparalleled and his ambition to make Scor an industry leader has never left him. It has animated all its action in the leader of the Group for the last 21 years”, reacted the general director of Scor, Thierry Léger.
