The last volume of “The Arab of the Future” by Riad Sattouf will be published in December

The sixth and final volume of Riad Sattouf’s bestseller will hit bookstores on December 1.

The sixth and final volume of The Arab of the futureFranco-Syrian Riad Sattouf’s autobiographical comic strip will premiere on December 1, Allary Editions announced Monday.

Volume 6 will cover the years 1994 to 2011.

The series, ongoing since 2014, has “sold more than 3 million copies of the first five volumes and translated into 23 languages,” Allary specifies.

Between Syria, Libya and Britain

Riad Sattouf, of a Syrian father and a French mother, recounted his youth there between the Libya of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, the Syria of President Hafez el-Assad and Britain.

This should be the author’s last published comic on Allary. In 2021, he launched his own publishing house, Les Livres du futur, for another series, Adventures of Vincent Lacoste in the cinema.

Riad Sattouf also has a film scheduled for late 2023 or early 2024, with the Unknowns (Didier Bourdon, Bernard Campan and Pascal Légitimus).
