Strike in Hollywood: AI is “terrifying” for cinema, warns Peter Sarsgaard

While collecting his acting award for the film “Memory” at the Venice Film Festival, the American actor spoke about the dangers surrounding the use of artificial intelligence.

If the actors and screenwriters on strike in Hollywood lose the battle to regulate artificial intelligence, the film industry “will only be the first to fall,” warned American actor Peter Sarsgaard when receiving the acting award in Venice.

“If we lose this battle, our industry will be just the first of many others to fall,” declared the actor upon receiving his award for The Memory of Michel Franco.

Regarding the Hollywood strike, which he supports, “all issues of fair pay are important,” but the use of artificial intelligence is a “terrifying” prospect, the actor said.

“It sounds like science fiction, but we can all agree that an actor and a screenwriter are people,” he added, emphasizing “the sacred experience of being human.”

Shedding light on patients’ daily lives
