Taylor Swift has finally released her full tracklist for her album, and there are tons of amazing songs and references for fans to scrutinize until midnight It will finally be unveiled on October 21st. However, Swift is currently giving fans at least a taste of what to expect from the album, including some of her inspirations behind her music, some of which surprisingly comes from the show. mad Men. Taylor Swift injects Mad Men into Midnights
In a series of Instagram videos at intermittent heights, Swift talked about some of the strongest influences on her new album. She gave fans a glimpse into her writing process and what to expect from the new album, which many fans say is aesthetically different from her latest album. More and more each time. In one of her recent videos, the pop star revealed how she came up with the title of the song, “Lavender Haze,” and how the popular AMC show led by Jon Hamm was involved. Swift revealed:
I came across the phrase “Lavender Haze” while watching Mad Men and searched for it because I thought it sounded good. It turns out it’s a common phrase used in the 1950s when they simply described being in love. Like being in ‘Lavender Haze’ meant you were in an all encompassing love glow, and I thought it was really cool.
The singer goes on to explain how the song is about how people who are out of a relationship will try to get people out of a lavender haze when lovers try to stay in it. He links it to his six-year relationship with Joe Alwyn and how the media and tabloids constantly affect their relationship. Alwyn has been a subject for her music in the past and has even contributed to some of Swift’s albums as a songwriter.
Who knows mad Men Did it have such an effect on Swift and her writing? I wonder if the cast knows that she is such a fan! It’s true that Swift has been a TV lover in the past, even admitting that her song is muted. Reputation“I Did Something Bad” is partly inspired by game of Thrones, showing that not all of their songs are about their relationships. She also named her lei cats “Olivia” in honor of Olivia Benson Law and order: SVU, and “Meredith” after Meredith Gray in Grey’s Anatomy. I guess the creative inspiration of the “Shake it Off” singer comes from all over the world, including the small screen.
Working with Lana Del Rey
While “Lavender Haze” was an exciting song for Swifties, it’s not the only track Swift detailed in her Instagram videos. The pop icon also talked about the album’s fourth song, Snow on the Beach. This song is of particular interest to Swift fans, as it marks her first collaboration with another iconic pop star, Lana Del Rey. Swift couldn’t be more excited to talk about another strong female voice in the pop music world that she has had the pleasure of collaborating with. Swift revealed:
“Snow on the Beach with Lana Del Rey” is track 4 of Midnights, and I can’t finish that line without a smile because I’m a huge fan of Lana Del Rey, more on that later … Lana del Ray is in my opinion one of the greatest musical artists of all time. The fact that she was born together is an honor and a privilege, and that she is so generous in collaborating with us on this song is something I will thank her for a lifetime. I love it and I really hope you love this song as much as I do.
I love that Taylor Swift is as obsessed with Lana Del Rey as most of us are. Many of Swift’s more ethereal tracks folklore have been noted for emulating Del Rey in the way they are built, and Swift has long been a fan of the rumors. I am so excited to see how these unique sounds intersect. Swift has already teamed up with other extraordinary talents, including Bon Iver on “Exile” (which was featured on the Netflix show, You) and Phoebe Bridgers in “Nothing New (Taylor’s Version)”. Both songs are beautiful and capture the sensitivity of the artists, so I think “Snow on the Beach” should be equally exquisite.
