Dahmer – Monster: The story of Jeffrey Dahmer has proven to be very polarizing since it first appeared on Netflix in September. The limited series created by Ryan Murphy appears to have its share of fans, but is also garnering backlash from those he represents. It now appears that one of the last people to contest the show is none other than Dahmer’s father, Lionel. It was also reported that he wasn’t happy with another show related to his late son and is now considering suing the broadcast company for the productions.
Lionel Dahmer claims (via his Guardian) that he was never contacted for the Ryan Murphy series, according to The sun . His aide, identified only as Jeb, told the outlet that Dahmer hasn’t even been consulted on the recently published docuseries. Conversations with a killer: Jeffrey Dahmer’s tapes. During the interview, Jeb also provided alleged details on how and why Patriarch Dahmer might attempt to take legal action:
I have personally spoken to some lawyers and we have also spoken to your editor about this because of all the chaos that is going on and the stories we have seen. Lionel and his lawyer gather information and investigate a possible lawsuit against the production team or perhaps against Netflix. Everyone says that if there is no match, you are looking for compensation. There was absolutely no concern for Lionel’s welfare.
Jeb went on to say that while he hasn’t seen the Ryan Murphy show in its entirety, he thinks it paints an inaccurate picture of Lionel, who has reportedly been a “nervous wreck” of late. The Guardian further states that the series “glamorously charms and pays attention to details that aren’t hard facts” and that the producers “don’t know the [conversations] between Jeff and the victims. Furthermore, he stated that Lionel, who is now 86, has not benefited in any way from the success of Dahmer.
Several people connected to the Jeffrey Dahmer murders have talked about the drama series. Rita Isbell, sister of Dahmer’s victim Errol Lindsey talked about the surreal nature of being portrayed on the show. He also claimed that Netflix never contacted her about the series. Veteran reporter Anne E. Schwartz, who covered up the murders in the early 1990s, he also claimed that there were multiple inaccuracies in the production narrative. A friend of some of Dahmer’s victims Eric Lynn called Ryan Murphy directly and called the show a “media attack”.
Despite the pushback, the controversial miniseries was an audience hit. At a certain point, Dahmer was # 1 in Netflix’s Top 10 and remains in the standings, until today. The main actor of the program, Evan Peters also garnered wild reactions from fans. after his performance.
The production teams of the two shows related to Jeffrey Dahmer have not yet responded to comments from Lionel’s goalkeeper. Whether or not he will go ahead with his alleged legal action plans remains to be seen, at the very least, the comments would indicate that he is seriously considering his options of him at this stage.
