All’s well that ends well in luxury. the casting ofsomething extra, a comedy starring actors with mental disabilities, will climb the steps of Cannes dressed by the Kering group, as explained by the film crew to BFMTV. The comedian Artus, director and protagonist of this film that is a success in theaters, deplored a few days ago that no brand wanted to lend the costumes to the Croisette team, which opens its 77th edition this Tuesday, May 14.
“On the 22nd we went up the stairs,” the 36-year-old actor declared on France Inter on Saturday. “There are eleven disabled actors and four classic ones, four boring ones, we would say,” he continued, specifying that the latter were himself, Clovis Cornillac, Alice Belaïdi and Céline Groussard.
“It is more elegant to dress Brad Pitt”
He then revealed that, contrary to custom, no luxury brand had lent evening gowns to the team for this climb of steps. “They tell us stories about the dues, saying ‘We’ve already borrowed all our costumes,'” he explained, before expressing his skepticism of this explanation:
“I think it is always more elegant for a brand to dress Brad Pitt than to dress (…) Artus and even more so for actors with disabilities.”
“It doesn’t matter, it is our film costume designers who will make very nice suits (…) and it will look very good,” he concluded.
This without counting on the intervention of the Kering group. François Pinault, founder of the world’s second largest luxury goods company (owner of brands such as Balenciaga, Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent), offered to dress the film crew.
something extra stands out as the surprise film hit of the year. Released on May 1, this comedy feel good which addresses mental disabilities with a school and solidarity spirit, has exceeded one million entries in less than a week. The 2 million milestone was officially passed on Monday, May 13.
