Are the movies shown on television really always the same? In its 2023 report, published on its site on May 15, 2024, the National Center for Cinema and Animated Images (CNC) published the list of the 20 most broadcast films on national free channels in France since 1957.

The film starring Julie Gayet has been broadcast 70 times since 1957 (of which 61 on TF1) or 2.7 broadcasts per year since its premiere in 1996, the CNC states.
follows closely Kirikú and the wild beasts with 69 broadcasts, of which 51 about Gulli and the animated film The twelve labors of Asterix with 60 emissions, including 26 in W9, 14 in M6 and 12 in 6ter.
Animated films and heritage films.
Of the 20 films most broadcast on television in France since 1957, 11 are animated films and, among them, 7 are franchise films. Asterix and Obelixspecifies the CNC in your study.
“French heritage films dominate the classification,” also reports the National Center for Cinema and Animated Images.
Most of the feature films mentioned are screened in the first part of the evening, with the exception of Delfina 1, Yvan 0 and Move! which are emitted more at night (respectively 88.6% and 74.5% of their emissions).
In this study, the CNC also reveals that television networks have especially resorted to the retransmission of films in 2023. “Overall, 13.7% of films are broadcast on two or even three different channels a few months before the interval 2023”. (11.9% in 2022), highest historical level,” indicates the CNC.
“In addition, there is a phenomenon of retransmission of the same films from one year to the next. 41.4% of the films scheduled on television in 2023 have already been broadcast in 2022,” the study reads.
