Thomas Shelby is back. And he is the essential Cillian Murphy, Oscar winner for his performance in Oppenheimer, who will reprise the role in the series spin-off Peaky Blinders. The announcement was made late this Tuesday, June 4, by the official Netflix account, which states that the feature film will be available “soon.”
A Peaky Blinders movieprovisional name of the feature film, it will be written by Steven Knight, screenwriter of the series since 2013, and directed by Tom Harper, also from the Peaky Blinders gang since the beginning of the project.

“Thomas Shelby was not done with me… It is very gratifying to collaborate again with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film adaptation of Peaky Blinders. We are dedicating it to the fans,” says Cillian Murphy, quoted by the streaming platform.
Cillian Murphy, also known as Thomas Shelby in the series, said last year that he would love to “do a movie (Peaky Blinders) if there is a story to tell. I’ll wait and let you know.”
In 2021, Steven Knight assured that he wanted to direct this film during the year 2023. “I will write the film that will be located and filmed in Birmingham. This will probably be the end of the Peaky Blinders adventure as we know it. You know,” he said.
Filming will most likely begin in the coming weeks or months. In early January, Steven Knight hoped to “start filming in mid-2024.” However, Netflix did not release any details about the film’s script or production on Tuesday.
Worn by Cillian Murphy, Peaky Blinders has received numerous awards since its debut a decade ago. The series achieved global success after its broadcast on the Netflix streaming platform.
