Since his breakthrough as Finn in Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, John Boyega was a huge star, appearing in the cast of projects from left to right. However, before he became an A-lister, he starred in the critically acclaimed 2011 film. stick the block. The film has risen to prominence over the years and has become a cult, and now Boyega is returning to his old territory with attack block 2.
while talking to Colliderla Star Wars alum expressed his love for stick the block and shared an update on the progress of the sequel’s development. Giving fans a long-awaited status report, the British actor said:
We are close enough. We are getting there. Of course we don’t want to reveal the dates to anyone because we want to take care of the creative process. We have the main backbone of the story, but we’re still in the lab, just to make sure the story is correct. History is everything. But it won’t take long. I gave them the battery to speed up the process. We hope to have an announcement soon as to when we will be in London, to spoil things.
It’s nice to know that the development process is going so well and that we will receive the expected follow-up in the near future. Boyega offered more details on the story and the character. Attachment to block 2 will continue saying:
This process was great. The story was actually presented by Joe Cornish and myself. We collaborated a lot to create a story that makes sense for Moses and the other characters who will appear in the second [film]and the new characters that will also appear in the sequel. And then, there are also different perspectives in the writing, Joe has his point of view and I have mine. London has changed a lot, in different ways, over the years since the first film. We’re just trying to make sure we explore all of that, bringing a completely different vibe to this crazy first movie we made.
I don’t know about you, but this movie looks like a blast. With John Boyega’s popularity skyrocketing from the first movie and fantastic material to build from, we could have a surprise hit on our hands. Director Joe Cornish argued Attachment to block 2 ideas with Boyega for years, so it’s clear that a lot of time and effort goes into this project. For those who don’t know, stick the block was a low-budget British film about a teenage street gang facing an alien invasion of a South London housing estate during Guy Fawkes night.
From the conclusion of his Star Wars Boyega has been busy pursuing smaller projects outside the realm of the successful franchises. The Detroit will appear alongside Viola Davis in the woman king, a project that Boyega is very excited about. He will also star alongside Jaime Foxx in a luscious comedy titled Tyrone was cloned for Netflix. The film is incredibly elegant and fun right from the first photos provided by Foxx.
Boyega spoke of his mixed experience as the focus of the Star Wars sequel movie. Given his recent picks than him, he’s much more interested in more personal projects, like attack block 2. I’m glad Boyega has found a career path that he feels comfortable with and that will serve him better as an actor.
