Fox’s medical drama the resident It just hit a major milestone when the series aired its 100th episode this week. The big episode focused on the long-awaited marriage of Dr. Randolph Bell and Dr. Kit Voss, and despite being delayed due to a medical emergency, it went as smoothly as ever. However, the end of the the residentConrad and Billie’s 100th episode was unexpected, and co-creator Amy Holden Jones talks about it clearly.
Despite the residentBillie, Conrad and Cade’s messy love triangle seemed to be resolved when it was revealed that Conrad had chosen Cade, which doesn’t seem to be the case by the end of the last episode. With Cade in the hospital taking care of a young patient, Conrad and Billie were dancing together at the reception and were also having fun. amy holden jones tells TV Line that Conrad’s “bad idea” about Billie could spark undeniable feelings between the two:
I think Conrad denied his feelings for the first half of the season. She has a crush on Cade, but this attraction was based on her misconception that Billie, as Nic’s best friend, was off limits to him. During the dance, and in the moments preceding this dance, the alchemy between them begins to be undeniable.
For a while there was talk of whether Conrad and Billie would become romantics, as they seemed very close to each other. Nic was Billie’s best friend, no wonder they never became an object. Even if that doesn’t mean the feelings aren’t there yet. The dance between Conrad and Billie certainly sparked feelings the two pushed, meaning it could get ugly in future episodes.
However, it’s important to note that when Cade was unveiled, it looked like the show would try to create her sweetheart Conrad. Then it became a question of whether Conrad would be with anyone after Nic’s death and who he said the love interest would be.
Even now that Conrad has chosen Cade, whom he clearly loves, it’s possible that moment at the reception has consequences, especially once Cade finds out.
At the start of the sixth season, the resident introduced a fatal flaw for Conrad and Cade. It’s no secret that his father, Ian, is a drug addict and tries to hide it while he works. She had been worried about her father, but Conrad was not so willing to let her continue to operate if it meant putting the children in danger. Even though it appears that they have now cleared things up with them, Billie could create a new challenge for the couple. The only question now is: who will emerge victorious?
the residentThe next episode will deal with the aftermath of the reception when a photo of Conrad and Billie flutters around the hospital and Cade sees it among everyone. It should definitely be interesting to see what she thinks about it and how she deals with Conrad about it, especially after everything they’ve been through to get to this point.
