Buckingham Palace has announced that Queen Camilla will not be able to attend the Royal Variety Performance taking place this Friday, November 22, due to “persistent post-viral symptoms”, due to a recent lung infection, the BBC reports.
“The Queen continues to experience persistent post-viral symptoms, so doctors have advised Her Majesty to rest after a busy week of engagements,” a palace spokesperson explained.
Forced to stay in London, the queen consort, 77, had already been forced to cancel many of her engagements at the beginning of the month due to her health.
King Charles III present
Last week, Queen Camilla appeared to be much better as she resumed her duties for the first time since her illness. On November 12, he attended the reception of the prestigious Booker Prize literary award hosted at Clarence House.
“I think I’m recovering, but it always takes a bit of time to get rid of this sort of thing,” he told the finalists, Sky News reports.
As for Charles III, he should be present at the Royal Albert Hall where the event will be held. The Royal Variety Performance, a charity show started in 1912 by King George V, celebrates its 112th edition this year. With more than 152 million viewers, it helps artists in difficulty.
