In an interview with Variety this Monday, November 25, American actor Alec Baldwin returned to the fatal accident that marred the filming of Oxide and cost cinematographer Halyna Hutchins her life.
The world premiere of this western took place this Wednesday, November 20 in Poland. However, Alec Baldwin has stated that he refuses to see “the final cut” of the film in which he plays the lead role.
“They sent me a draft before things got a little more complicated. So I haven’t seen the movie. But, again, I hope the movie comes out and makes money for its investors,” the actor told Variety.
“The most difficult thing I have had to face”
“And I hope the movie sells, and Matt Hutchins [le mari d’Halyna] you will receive your money. We all made an agreement with him and we all want to respect it. But this idea of people (…) saying: ‘You’re taking advantage!’ It is totally false,” denounced Alec Baldwin.
For their part, the victim’s relatives boycotted the premiere of the film, accusing the actor of never having apologized to them and of “refusing to take responsibility for the death” of the young woman.
The 66-year-old American actor estimated that the fatal accident on the set of this film, which occurred on October 21, 2021, is “the most difficult thing I have had to face in my life.” “My wife was very, very traumatized by this. “He suffered a lot,” he said.
Following the fatal accident that claimed the life of Halyna Hutchins, the film’s director of photography, the production’s gunsmith, Hannah Gutiérrez-Reed, was sentenced in April to 18 months in prisonfor accidentally loading the actor’s gun with a real bullet.
Alec Baldwin’s trial for involuntary manslaughter was canceled due to procedural errorwhile the bullets related to the case in the possession of the investigators were not transmitted to the defense. Filming on the film resumed in 2023 in Montana.
