Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s Ryan Coogler explains what happened to Daniel Kaluuya’s W’Kabi after siding with Killmonger

In July, Daniel Kaluuya confirmed that he is not part of the cast of Black Panther: Wakanda forever, and the actor expressed disappointment with the development, but what wasn’t revealed at the time was the status of his character, W’Kabi, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. To be sure, the answer to that question doesn’t even appear in the film itself, as there’s only a brief mention of him in one scene … but for those curious about what’s going on, writer / director Ryan Coogler has an explanation.

I interviewed the director at the Los Angeles press day for his new Marvel movie earlier this month, and it’s been while he’s been discussing his take on events in Wakanda since the first one ended. black Panther film, I specifically asked for W’Kabi. It was a question Coogler appreciated and to which he had an answer, saying:

This is a very good question. It’s basically banned, but it’s still within Wakanda’s borders if that makes sense. It is a phrase that refers to his being still alive.

In case you don’t remember, W’Kabi wasn’t exactly considered a hero in the end black Panther. Furious that King T’Chaka (John Kani) and King T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) did not do justice after Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis) killed his father, W’Kabi sided with Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) when the soldier crossed the Wakanda border with Klaue’s body. He fought as part of Killmonger’s army when T’Challa was resurrected and renewed his claim to the throne, ending up on the losing side of the fight.

The end of black Panther does not face W’Kabi’s punishment for betraying the throne (or, for that matter, the state of her relationship with Danai Gurira’s Okoye), and besides not appearing in Black Panther: Wakanda foreverthe character does not appear Avengers: Infinity War This is ending of the Avengers This is. Because Daniel Kaluuya is such a phenomenal talent, fans can hope that he will appear in a future MCU movie or show, especially since we know he’s not dead. If he / she returns, we now have a basic idea of where he went.

As audiences await W’Kabi’s return, soon everyone will be able to bask in the glow of Black Panther: Wakanda forever – which will be released in theaters this Friday 11 November with a stellar cast that includes Letita Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, Tenoch Huerta, Martin Freeman and Angela Bassett.
