For the third year in a row, an actor from the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been named Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine. Chris Evans, aka the MCU’s Steve Rogers/Captain America, won that title for 2022, trailing 2021’s Paul Rudd and 2020’s Michael B. Jordan. This is undoubtedly a particularly significant moment in Evans’ life, and Chris Hemsworth , aka the MCU’s Thor, revealed how Robert Downey Jr. and others reacted to the news in his Avengers group chat.
Chris Hemsworth, who was named People magazine’s Sexiest Man in 2014, spoke about Chris Evans receiving the honor during his visit Jimmy Kimmel Live!. After the eponymous host whipped out a copy of People magazine featuring Evans on the cover, Hemsworth explained how the way Evans posed with his hands behind his back was quickly brought up in the Avengers group chat. In his words:
We got a string of text from the Avengers and very quickly it was like, “What are you doing with your hands over there?” It was like Downey said he was going to be arrested, I said it was a nice mugshot and Jeremy Renner said some things we won’t repeat.
A decade after the The Avengers is out, the film’s six lead actors are still bonded with each other, so it was to be expected that Chris Evans, being this year’s Sexiest Man Alive, would be addressed in his text string. But he adds that Evans awkwardly laid eyes on him, and some lighthearted banter is par for the course, with Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth saying it looked like the police just had their co-star. And while Hemsworth kept what Jeremy Renner said in the group chat a secret, the Hawkeye actor also praised Evans for his Instagram Stories.
After sharing how he and the other Avengers cast teased Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth opened up and told Jimmy Kimmel that he was really proud of Evans for this accomplishment, saying:
Absolutely; he is really a sexy man. So, well done.
Along with Chris Evans’ Avengers co-stars Taika Waititi and Octavia Spencer, they responded that the actor was the Sexiest Man Alive 2022. Dwayne Johnson, who was named the Sexiest Man Alive in 2016 , has even recorded a video with Evans. where he taught knives out actor on what it means to have that title. However, for women more than ever in love with Evans after this selection, know that he is currently in a relationship with actress Alba Baptista. Hopefully, things are better for them than between Evans and singer Jana Kramer.
