Lobo’s name has been around Jason Momoa for quite some time. As an avid Lobo fan, there have been rumors that Momoa will be bringing the DC anti-hero to the DC Extended Universe. The a hasn’t quieted the rumors by constantly mentioning the character, as well as teasing a secret “dream” project from DC. The recent announcement that James Gunn and Peter Safran have become heads of DC Studios seems to bring him closer to the possibility of bringing Lobo to the big screen. While there is no official word on a possible adaptation, the aquaman and the lost kingdom Star has finally responded to speculation about the character.
Momoa played “will he or won’t he” when it came to getting Lobo into the DCEU, and the move to DC Films has only made Lobo talk louder with other potential DC projects. comicbook.es reported on water man Star has finally spoken out about these rumors. He was asked to blink twice if the DC mercenary was the subject of this upcoming project, which elicited a coy response.
Well, obviously I have to blink, so I won’t make it without blinking, but you know it would be great if that happened. I am happy to [James] Gunn is in charge and [Peter] Safran, which is like my heart. So they’re in good hands and I think comic fans all over the world will be very excited.
The Duncan Idaho actor is thrilled to have Gunn and Safran lead DC Films. This shouldn’t be too surprising given that Momoa has already given Gunn her approval to take over the DCEU. He expressed his enthusiasm for the new direction as he tried to make his dream project a reality. Before being cast as DC’s favorite Atlantean King, the actor-producer repeatedly mentioned his desire to make a Lobo movie. With the recent turmoil at Warner Discovery, he keeps his cards close at hand in case things go wrong.
The water man Star continued to play coy about whether he would play the interstellar bounty hunter. She said the potential DCEU adaptation could be based on “something I’ve been picking up all my life.” Momoa hinted that fans would already know which DC character she wants to play outside of Aquaman. She said her “true fans” would understand if they “look back in history to find out what I collect the most.” If the project isn’t Lobo, the Hollywood A-lister is playing on the emotions of her fans.
