Paul Mario Day, the original singer of Iron’s Maiden group, died

The British artist famous for having been the first singer of the Iron Maiden Metal Group died at the age of 69.

Paul Mario Day, a British artist famous for being the first singer of the Iron Maiden metal group, died at the age of 69, announced members of his current group, more on social networks.

“We are deeply sad to learn the death of the great singer of More, Paul Mario Day. Paul has played an important role in the movement of metal in the United Kingdom since his debut in Iron Maiden and, of course, thanks to his fantastic performance in the album ‘Warhead’,” they wrote on Instagram.

Only 10 months in Iron Maiden

Paul Mario Day had joined Iron Maiden in 1975, recruited by the bassist of the group, Steve Harris. If he is the first official singer of the group, his presence is short and is a short life. In a documentary about Iron Maiden, the latter says he was fired from the group after ten months, tried by other non -energetic and charismatic members.

As a result, Paul Mario Day has never recorded an album with the group. It was quickly replaced by Dennis Wilcock, was replaced in 1978 by Paul Di’anno, present in the first two albums of Iron Maiden, then by Bruce Dickinson, current singer of the group.

After his brief visit to Iron Maiden, Paul Mario Day then sang for forest coast and fire groups, before joining the 80s, a renovated version of the English group Sweet as the main singer, along with guitarist Andy Scott and drummer Mick Tucker.

“My sincere condolences to his wife Cecily, his family and friends. It’s a sad day for all sweet fans,” said Andy Scott in a Facebook post.
