Squeezie, Michou, Staxtag … Web stars multiply blockbusters

Wandering through an airport, competition on a train on foot … The big productions are increasing on YouTube and now compete with television programs.

Could it be essential? After the success of KaizenDocumentary about the promotion of the Everest of the stainless cameraman, the main projects multiply on YouTube and arouse the growing interest of the brands.

Last week, 40,000 spectators attended the transmission in the cinema of the first of the four episodes of TerminalA weekly series produced by the Creator of Content Miguel Mattioli, aka Michou (10 million subscribers), for his YouTube channel.

Putting online on Sunday, this first part has accumulated more than 4.3 million visits in three days. Filmed in Spain, this survival game places fifteen internet personalities in an abandoned airport where they have to escape from soldiers.

“It is a project of more than one million euros” that mobilized 250 people, it detailed the 23 -year -old creator, far from the first pastelleros filmed in his room almost ten years ago.

Projects not necessarily profitable

If you have not reached 340,000 tickets from KaizenDocumentary launched in 2024 on the rise of Everest of Stoxtag, which also participates in Terminal -, its diffusion in the room clearly demonstrates the need to make these increasingly ambitious projects are profitable.

For his series, Michou has been associated with three brands, which appear regularly on the screen and each benefit of an advertising insert led by the creator in exchange for his participation in financing.

“I’m going to put money from my pocket, but it doesn’t matter. It’s a long -term investment,” said the young man.

“The creators look a little like the comet, who will do the craziest, most successful,” observes Romain Cabrolier, director of Associations on YouTube. A way to try new concepts but also “reach an increasingly bigger audience,” says Adam Bensoussan, communication advisor for Internet designers.

Impossible to do without brands

Second YouTubeur of France with almost 20 million subscribers, Lucas Hauchard, aka Squeezie, became the specialist in this high -level entertainment in which the stars and influencers come, such as the series of Who is the imposter?.

Saturday, it launches Stop the trainNew projector that encloses ten youtubers on a walking train for a series of events. With a budget between 700,000 and 800,000 euros and one hundred mobilized people, it is the largest investment made in its channel, it is said in the production entourage.

Once again, it is impossible to do without brands to finance this project, while associations for this type of video can exceed one hundred thousand euros. Hence the need to alternate these great projects with simpler videos, in a fixed and much more profitable decoration.

A “maturity of the sector”

Because if YouTube pays creators according to the number of views, the amount varies according to the duration, the number of ads but also the target audience. Given these XXL Budgets, this sum represents “a non -insignificant percentage, but almost,” says Adam Bensoussan, even if he can ascend to several tens of thousands of euros for a video with several million visits.

These Internet box office successes often gather several web stars to benefit from a larger exposure, but they also become more desirable in the eyes of sponsors.

“Many brands want to partner with the creators” instead of aiming “an audience or demography” specifies Romain Cabrolier.

The success of Kaizen In the cinema, followed by its transmission in TF1, has also shown new roads for these investments to be profitable and reach a audience beyond YouTube.

“There will be more and more projects of this scale,” Bénédicte de Kersauson, General Delegate of the Union of Companies of Influence and Creators of Content (UMICC). “It shows a certain maturity of the sector” that, which faces television, “attracts more and more talents and investments.”
