“While digital devices promise to keep us connected to each other, they often do the opposite,” they write. “Our smartphones, tablets and computers have become sources of constant distraction, fragmenting our attention and preventing us from giving others all the attention that human relationships require.”
“When we check our phones during conversations, scroll through social media during family dinners, or answer emails while playing with our children, we are not simply distracting ourselves: we are withdrawing the most basic form of love that human connection requires,” they point out.
The Princess of Wales, 43, also went to Oxford (southern England) on Thursday to attend an association that supports parents to discuss the importance of the attachment bond in the emotional development of a child.
