Criminal Minds: Evolution Star Aisha Tyler Talks Lewis Finally Enjoying New Relationship, Which Won’t Be Just Happiness

Spoilers ahead for the first two episodes of Criminal Minds: Evolution, so be careful if you haven’t checked them out yet. (But really, why not you?)

Of all the big reveals that took place during the double-run premiere for the season of rebirth Criminal Minds: Evolution – included Widowed Rossi While new UnSub Elias Voit has a wife and kids, perhaps the least anticipated discovery has come in the form of another relationship, but this time for Tara Lewis. And star Aisha Tyler spoke to Gossipify about being happy to give her character some bliss in that area, even if it’s not as positive. Get it girl!

Not only has Lewis finally got a new romantic counterpart, as viewers and Paget Brewster’s Prentiss have learned, but he’s also with a woman! And it’s not the first time he’s taken this path! (No more exclamation marks…for now.) Lewis confessed that he had been dating Justice Department Rebecca Wilson (Nicole Pacent) for a few months, telling Prentiss that although he had dated women before, he had never been happier . . No one knows who deserves this life update more than Aisha Tyler herself, and as seen above, she opened up about her excitement as she tackles her character’s first on-screen romance in more than half a decade. In her words:

Yeah, you know, it’s great. Lewis hasn’t been in a relationship since my first season, which was season 11. And I get that. We work a lot with people who are actually doing this job in the real world, and relationships are hard to maintain with this job. It’s dark work. The people who do this work are sin eaters, aren’t they? They bring a lot of darkness. So it’s nice to see her happy and in a healthy relationship.

to long-standing ones Doorman star, it’s not necessarily a great imaginary shame that Lewis has been out of stable relationships for so long, because it’s not exactly atypical for those working in the fields of criminal profiling and behavioral analysis. The nature of the job can be both a mental and physical obstacle to romance, whether it’s the long, unpredictable hours or the emotional strain that comes with dealing with such dark and disturbing cases.

But then, those who deal with that darkness on a daily basis can often be the ones most in need of relief outside of work, so it makes sense that Lewis could finally reconnect with someone else in a lasting way. . Lucky Rebecca, I say. But as great as things are right now, Aisha Tyler added a little sinister to the mix by saying the show will always explore the couple-centric complications that come with BAU relationships. (And not the way Alvez being Alvez made it hard to keep Garcia your little date goes more than a quote.) Here’s how he said it:

But I also think we’re going to explore what kind of pressure this job puts on a relationship, on a family. It is hard work and it takes a specific type of person and also a specific type of loved one to be able to tolerate it. So I think we’re really going to take a look at that this season. But it was amazing to explore that relationship and I’m really excited for people to see that.

Of course, Tyler didn’t specifically say that Lewis’ relationship was doomed or anything, and it’s only natural that any relationship, new or old, goes through some growing pains. And it’s certainly possible that your BAU headaches and Rebecca’s DOJ problems are completely different, even if they’re both government-related, which could create its own problems. Two wrongs don’t make a right, but hopefully there’s enough good between them to survive the troubled waters.

New episodes (opens in a new tab) from Criminal Minds: Evolution are available to stream every Thursday with a Paramount+ Subscription , with darker and deadlier surprises to come over the next eight weeks. look at this star Kirsten Vangsness told us about Garcia’s pink post-it note then go to our 2023 TV premiere schedule to see what fans can expect when BAU goes on hiatus again.
