Elon Musk tried to sue Chappelle in a comedy show and it didn’t go well

Elon Musk has been in the news a lot lately, even though it’s mostly related to stories like Seth Rogen’s decision to leave Twitter This is Jimmy Fallon wonders why people thought he was dead . This latest news from Musk is a little more surprising, given that the businessman was booed at Dave Chappelle’s recent comedy show when he took the stage. Musk tried to win over the public by quoting The Chapelle showand it didn’t go well.

Dave Chappelle welcomed Elon Musk to the stage during his performance at the Chase Center in San Francisco on Sunday night. A Youtube Video of the ordeal showed Musk getting a mixed response from attendees. There was an outpouring of boos from the crowd, as Chappelle cracked a few jokes about the crowd’s reaction. Some time later, Musk attempted to pay tribute to The Chapelle show delivering a line often heard during the end credits of the skit series. Check out Musk’s attempt to replicate it below:

This line was made iconic by comedian Donnell Rawlings, who pronounced the sentence during The Chapelle show Season 1 episode “New York Fixes and Boobs”. In the scene, Rawlings’ character tells the reporter “I’m a rich bug” and honks his truck’s horn twice. The horns were probably blown during the show for this reason, not to drown out the boos aimed at Elon Musk. (Also embarrassing is that he messed up the delivery by saying “bitch” and not “bitch”.)

While there was no outright denial of the booing by those in attendance at the event, there appears to be a difference in the number of booing that occurred. When Elon Musk answered aa Chirping The user who apparently referenced the event seemed to think the response to its occurrence was more welcome than not:

Technically, it was 90% clapping and 10% booing (except in quiet times), but still, that’s a lot of booing, which is a first for me in real life (often on Twitter).

Clearly, the Tesla founder thinks the San Francisco-based mob was more for him than against him, but he acknowledged he still gets a lot of ridicule. Perhaps I was expecting an answer more like when He hosted Saturday night live and do a pretty solid impression of Wario ? Anyone reviewing this sketch with a Peacock Premium Subscription You will see that he, at least, has comedic skills.

However, sketch comedy and stand-up comedy are two completely different things. Repeating a line from a popular show, especially some dialogue that may be dark like Elon Musk’s, can have mixed results. In Musk’s case, it was taken in a specific way. It’s hard to ignore the optics when the richest person in the world refers to their wealth in this way. Maybe if I did a Verified Twitter accounts are joking like others, it could have been better received.

As the tech mogul gets his bearings, he can stream The Chapelle show on Netflix and HBO Max. The classic show is worth watching as the TV goes down for the year, especially if you’re looking for a laugh or two during these colder months.
