On top of that, Nina later revealed that she was considering taking a job at an intelligence unit away from New York. (No, not the Chicago Police intelligence unit !) There is a possible opening in the Los Angeles intelligence unit, and Nina was thinking about moving there. Just hours after hearing Scola say how much she hates Los Angeles!
Of course, Scola quickly went from excitement to confusion to anger, initially only agreeing to review the documents. After a difficult case involving a dysfunctional father-son relationship that ended in tragedy, he told Nina that he couldn’t waive his rights to her. While he will work with her and give her the flexibility he needs with her, he said he needed to be there as well and was “non-negotiable.”
Nina didn’t say anything else about Los Angeles, she just said “I’m fine” and “We can see how it goes” before announcing that they were having a boy. She suggested we go out to dinner and discuss the names of the babies, and the subplot ended with tears of happiness and walking out of the FBI hand in hand.
Scola is clearly willing to father the child and has already promised flexibility to Nina. If he decides to move to Los Angeles and take the job, could Scola leave the team and go with her? If anything could convince him to leave the club he plays for and move to a city he hates, I imagine he would be his son.
