Jean-Paul Corbineau, one of the three “Jeans” of the legendary Breton group Tri Yann, died on Friday at the age of 74, we learned from a member of the folk-rock group.
“Jean-Paul died of a long illness,” Jean Chocun told AFP, citing the family of the deceased and confirming information from ‘Ouest-France’. “We are in shock with Jean-Louis” Jossic, the third man of the Tri Yann, “we knew that Jean-Paul was sick but we waited”, he added very excited.
After 50 years on stage, Tri Yann said goodbye to the public on September 12, 2021 in Nantes, ending a career of exceptional longevity for this group that had greatly contributed to popularizing Breton music with hits such as michao mare Where In the prisons of Nantes.
More than three million albums sold
“People were carrying us. They were happy and sad to see us go and we were happy and sad to say goodbye to them,” Jean-Paul Corbineau told AFP that night, already ill.
Tri Yann has to his credit more than three million records sold, concerts at the Zénith, Bercy and even at the Stade de France, as well as in many foreign countries. In France they beat the longevity record of the Jacques brothers.
