Rocky Balboa is undoubtedly one of the most iconic characters in cinematic history. Sylvester Stallone’s creation spawned six films in his core franchise (e Classified 24 News Bulletin of all Balboa films ) as well as three spin-offs in I think series. So it came as a shock to longtime Sly fans when it was announced that the aging boxer and mentor of Adonis would not appear in the next belief III . good now the star of the franchise became director Michael B. Jordan shares his thoughts on the decision not to bring back Rocky for his third outing for the beloved sports franchise.
In an exclusive interview with our sister site, Full movie the belief III star spoke about his directorial debut. It also discusses the thought process behind distancing, respecting, the Rocky series, which included the difficult decision not to bring back Sylvester Stallone. The filmmakers decided to time-jump into the third film (which Giordano has already spoken ) and effectively placed the title character at a pivotal point in his professional career. With that in mind, Jordan sees this as a new phase for his character. He explained:
We wouldn’t have Donnie without Rocky, and he will always be a pillar in Donnie’s life, but Creed III is truly the beginning of a new era for the franchise and the character. It was really important from a storytelling point of view to come to a turning point in Donnie’s career a few years later where he really settles in with his career and his family.
While Sylvester Stallone’s departure from the show may disappoint some fans (and the actor himself). spoke of the “regrettable” decision ), is a somewhat exciting twist to the series. The latter two films, while plotting Donnie, drew heavily on Rocky lore and established characters. The first film saw Michael B. Jordan’s character grappling with the legacy of his father, former heavyweight champion Apollo Creed while training with Balboa. And the second film saw him face off against the son of Rocky’s former adversary, Ivan Drago. It will be an exciting change of pace for the series to see a story single-handedly focused on Adonis and set up the franchise to stand on its own into the future.
Packed with action belief III The trailer got me excited. It gives us a glimpse into Adonis’ successful life, establishing that he has a lot to lose right now. We also got our first full look at the jack Jonathan Majors as Damian Anderson , an old childhood friend (and new enemy) of Adonis. The tension between the two characters is palpable and I can’t wait to see all the potential drama in and out of the ring.
While I’m sad that Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa isn’t a factor in Part 3, I understand the decision by Michael B. Jordan and his team to take the series a little further from its predecessors. I’m also more than thrilled to finally get a chance to see belief III and Jordan’s first time in the director’s chair. There are still a few months left to the long awaited 2023 new movie release hits theaters, but there are still a few upcoming movie in 2022 to hold us over until Adonis steps into the ring again.
