DWTS Pros Sharna Burgess and Brian Austin Green have pledged to raise awareness of mental health this year. They never thought they’d be personally affected by the loss of boss Stephen ‘tWitch’

We’ve all grown accustomed to seeing more mustaches in the final months of the year, thanks to the many men who choose to be part of the Movember movement that raises awareness of men’s health issues. One such issue is mental health, and that’s a big part of why. dance with the stars students (and real partners) Sharna Burgess and Brian Austin Green have teamed up with Movember. They could never have known how personal the cause would become, as tragedy struck their own community this month with the Stephen “tWitch” Boss’s suicide .

Sharna Burgess posted a video on instagram in which she and Brian Austin Green addressed mental health, recognizing that the holidays can be a difficult time of year for people, especially those dealing with death or separation from loved ones, illness or financial hardship . She referred to her personal loss of her, like So you think you can dance contestant turned tWitch judge was found dead on Dec. 14 at the age of 40. Burgess said in the caption:

I never thought we would mourn the loss of one of the brightest and most beautiful lights in our industry and community. Our passion for mindfulness has become even more personal to us in light of these tragic events.

Stephen Boss and his wife Allison Holker, who both appeared in So you think you can dance Yes dance with the starsThey often shared videos of themselves dancing together, with friends and children. The boss’s death hit the entertainment world hard , and Brian Austin Green said in Sharna Burgess’ post that it can be especially difficult for men to seek help because they’ve been conditioned not to talk about their feelings. He said:

I know now that it’s sometimes hard for us kids to ask for help. We believe we should be the provider/protector at all times. But we are human beings too, and I think the bravest thing we can do sometimes is to ask for help.

The couple said those who are suffering are not alone and there are many people who can identify with what they are going through and are ready to help. They encouraged people to be open about mental health and self-care this season, while also explaining that people need to make sure they’re watching their loved ones. Stephen “tWitch” Boss, known to his fans as a dancer and the dj inside The Ellen DeGeneres Show , was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Dec. 14, in a motel less than a mile from his home. Authorities told him left a suicide note . His wife Allison Holker is back on social media a week after the tragedy to express how much she misses her husband, who also left behind her three children: Weslie, 14, Maddox, 6 and Zaia, 3.
